Scenes & timeline
Scenes
A project holds any number of scenes; each is a standalone cinematic. Add, rename, and duplicate them from the Scenes panel. A scene's duration sets the length of its timeline.
Camera tracks & keyframes
Each scene has one or more camera tracks. Fly the viewport to a pose and press Keyframe (or double-click a lane) to record a camera keyframe holding position, rotation, and FOV. Between keyframes Orbit interpolates the move; each keyframe carries an easing you can change from its right-click menu or the Properties panel.
- Aim — a camera keyframe can hold a fixed rotation, look at a point, or follow an actor.
- Constant speed — redistribute a track's interior keyframes for uniform travel speed.
- Curve editor (Tab) — edit the position, rotation, and FOV channels as f-curves.
Camera Cuts
The Cuts lane hard-switches — or blends — between camera tracks at a point in time; the live camera badge shows which track is on screen. A cut with a non-zero blend eases from the previous camera into the next.
Environment, effects & markers
- Environment keyframes drive time-of-day, weather, screen fades, and titles.
- Effects keyframes fire particles, sounds, and camera shake.
- Markers annotate the timeline; a marker set as a cue emits a
/scriptevent orbit:markerwhen playback reaches it in-game.
Reference audio
Attach a music or voice track to a scene to choreograph against it. Orbit shows a
waveform lane and an optional BPM beat grid for snapping. Reference audio
is editor-only — it is stored in your .orbit project but never exported.
